.02 Alicia Spinnet
Full Name: Alicia Nigella Spinnet
Nicknames: Most people tend to call her Ali, if not by her full name.
Age/Birthday: 23 / 19 June 1978
House and Years Attended: Gryffindor (1989 - 1996)
Blood Status: Halfblood.
Occupation: Former chaser for the Prides of Portree, but currently unemployed.
Alliance: Once a member of Dumbledore's Army, it was no surprise when she voiced her opinion in favor of the Order. And even less of one when she joined their ranks!
Status in Society: In hiding.

.03 Psychology
Boggart: Mermaids. Her brother used to tell her rather terrifying tales of the ones in the black lake at Hogwarts!

Patronus: Taught to cast the charm by Harry in DA, she found that not only is she able to produce one, but it takes the form of a badger. In many cultures and beliefs the badger symbolizes supernatural powers, mischief and playfulness, caring and wisdom - most of which are rather telling as to the memory she had first used to conjure her patronus in the room of requirement.

Personality: Alicia is a fun, somewhat quirky individual. She’s very laid back and has no real temper. As the younger sister of two brothers and former teammate of the infamous Weasley twins, she’s quite used to being the subject of a prank or two. Or hundreds. She can take a joke very well, though be wary of her revenge! She’s not so bad at pranks herself. She has very positive and energetic, and sometimes the perfect embodiment of the term “happy-go-lucky.” She has a very dorky sense of humor and often makes herself the subject of many jokes.

Though she has always had an instinct and desire to speak out, and make herself known, a strong impulse to do so has really only begun to develop. Sadly, it has been quite stifled by her position as a chaser for the Prides, and the inevitable political involvement, however minor it may be, in being a professional quidditch player. She is very much a team player in every respect of the word. She will stop at no boundaries to support her teammates (and friends) and stand rather firmly behind them. She rarely finds the need to be the star, the loudest voice, or seek validation. Deep down she is really very tough, though the quality is quite often over-looked.

When she does encounter a bad mood, it is usually marked with a very quiet disposition. She will often attempt to hide it, but those who know her are able to see right through such a superficial disguise. They are, however, very rare.

And she’s addicted to coffee. The only time she can be described as “surly” is towards the person standing between her and her precious life force. Don’t ask; it just is.

.04 Relationships
Allen & Janice Spinnet: Alicia’s relationship with her parents is dealt with in opposites, to put it quite simply.

With her mother, their relationship is a bit estranged. As a muggle herself, Janice was none too keen on her daughter playing quidditch at all, afraid that she would hurt or kill herself. In fact, she attempted at one time to put an end to it entirely, though it didn’t stick. She had tried in Alicia’s youth to raise her daughter as a proper lady. It didn’t work, and Alicia always feared that she had disappointed her mother in that way, despite numerous reassurances that she hadn’t by her father. Their relationship only seemed to sour when she joined up with the Order, and willingly put herself in danger. Though not even Janice can deny that she does feel a sense of pride in the fact that Alicia is fighting for what she believes in.

Allen and Alicia is another story entirely! Her father is quite proud of her to the point of embarrassment. Allen was the cause of her ability to play the sport at all, quite often sneaking her and her brothers off to a distant field while their mother was at work to practice. He often tempered Janice’s harsh expectations of Alicia, and encouraged her to be whatever and whoever she wanted to be.

Their move to Australia was harder on Alicia than she had believed it would. It was a measure for their safety, naturally, but she misses them dearly.

Justin Spinnet: Alicia’s eldest brother. The two of them are about as tight as two peas in a pod. Though Justin is a little jealous of her sister, he knew that he had no hope of any sporting glory when Alicia started kicking his arse at a young age. Currently they’re in hiding on nearly opposite ends of Britain, but they still manage to find each other frequently, if for no other reason than to keep each other sane.

Andrew Spinnet: The middle child. Andrew and Alicia haven’t spoken in a number of years. As they grew as children, and it became rather apparent that Andrew was the only child without magical power, and was a sore spot in the family. Andrew is quite close to Janice, and by-proxy Allen, but rarely talks to his wizarding siblings. He resides in Australia, and was solely responsible for convincing their parents into leaving Scotland.

Gryffindor Quidditch Team (Harry, Oliver, Fred & George, Angelina, Katie): Alicia cares very much for her former teammates, and worries about them more often than her health probably thanks her for. As much as she can, she tries to keep in contact with them. While in school, her strongest ties were with Fred, George, and Angelina-- it was the twins’ doing that she could join the Order after she went into hiding.

(more to be added with player input)

.05 Visually
Alicia has a very cute, feminine demeanor about her. She stands just on the shorter side of average, making it over the 5-foot mark just by a couple of inches. “Tiny” is the word that comes to mind most often regarding her, and not just for her height. Alicia has always been rather skinny. A trait passed down from her mother (as she too possessed a similarly thin build before she had children), she received a lot of criticism during school and as a professional quidditch player for her meager size. Understandably, she prefers the term “lean” to the well-used alternatives. Plus, anybody who’s ever had a meal with Alicia knows that she definitely gets enough to eat.

Her hair is usually fairly messily styled and falls around her face often. She doesn’t usually pay very much attention to it, unless she really can’t see. Behind the mess of chestnut brown resides the lovely blue of her eyes. She has high cheek bones and a fine bone structure. Despite anything she can say about the size of her nose, she is pretty. Her father said she always looked more like her mother.

As far as Alicia is concerned-- Wizarding robes? No thank you! She’ll wear them if she has to (an occurrence that has dwindled almost entirely as she’s ducked out of wizarding society almost completely), but she much prefers the comfort of jeans, shirts, and sweaters. Even dresses. Her personal style contains a very vintage flair that often makes her stand out even in muggle society. And she loves it.

PB: Becky Lou Filip.

.06 Sexuality
Heterosexual. As far as dating goes, she doesn’t have a long list of boyfriends to speak of. She has had a few, but they’ve never lasted long. Though she loves to joke around and flirt, she is often looked upon as a little sister to most guys, rather than potential dating material. It’s something she prefers.

.07 Odds & Ends
Achievements:
- Gryffindor team seeker (1990-1996)
- OWLs: Ancient Runes - O; Arithmancy - A; Charms - O; Defense Against the Dark Arts - O; Divinations - A; Herbology - E; History of Magic - A; Potions - E; Transfiguration - O
- NEWTs: Ancient Runes - O; Charms - O; DAtDA - E; Potions - A; Transfigurations - E
- Starting Chaser for the Prides of Portree (1997 - 1998)

Hobbies: Quidditch. Quidditch. QuidditchQuidditchQuidditch. She tired to find opportunities to play when she can, to keep her skills sharp for when she can return to being a pro (she hasn’t really accepted that this DE takeover business might be permanent). She tends to spend most of her time, however, reading. She’s thought about taking up a muggle job just for something constructive to do with her time. The extra money wouldn’t hurt either!

.08 History
Alicia was born to Allen and Janice Spinnet as the youngest of three. Growing up as the youngest of two brothers was always an adventure. Her mother had great hopes for her youngest, attempting to turn the baby of the family into a proper lady. All hopes, of course, were dashed entirely when Alicia kept returning home covered in mud.

Allen was an avid quidditch fan - something he instilled in all his children, much to his wife’s dismay. Even when they were too young to ride a broom, they tossed around a quaffle like their muggle friends played with a soccer or basketball. Justin and Alicia showed their magical talents early on in their childhood; Justin at the age of nine, and Alicia at the age of six. Their father’s first lessons were, of course, how to ride a broom. Andrew, however, never showed any magical aptitude. His lack of magical ability would only cause a rather awkward home life for the other two children during summer holidays.

Alicia’s schooling was destined to be less than average after being scouted by Oliver Wood for the quidditch team. Her mother was not pleased in the least, and had even tried, at one point during her second year, to put a stop to it. Quite obviously, she was unsuccessful. That second year was a little difficult on Alicia - trying to balance school work with her quidditch schedule. Her marks suffered only a little, however, allowing her to continue playing.

Her third year, of course, was Harry Potter’s first year - the year that odd things began to happen. Though, at that time, she was much more content with her winning team than the odd going-ons of first year students. As their schooling progressed, however, those going-ons became harder and harder to ignore, finally culminating with Diggory’s death and Voldemort’s return.

In her seventh year, not content to simply complete her school work under the swiftly changing regime of Umbridge, she joined Dumbledore’s Army. Under the patient guidance of Mr. Potter, her talents in the defense against the Dark Arts improved tremendously. Though it was merely an interesting subject to her before, it became something more in her final year - a means of survival.

After she graduated, she was scouted rather instantly by the Prides of Portree and was drafted into their reserve team. Despite the ever-souring climate of the magical world, and the growing war, she was promoted to the starting team towards the end of her first season with the Prides. For a brief, shining moment, she’d achieved her goal.

And then the unthinkable happened.

Halfway into her second season she was forced to drop from the team and go into hiding, under the threat of being arrested for her blood status, not to mention her known support of the Order. Her parents had already fled to Australia, thankfully, just as Andrew had already left his post at the ministry in favor of a small cabin somewhere in the Scottish Highlands. As much as she hated to, she left Portree, returning to Greenock where she’d grown up. That’s not before she made a point to become a full member of the Order, of course.

.09 Samples
Journal Sample:
The weather has started to turn irreproachably cold once again. Though it’s only been raining, it’s made practice more difficult than it ought to be. We decided to call it a day when it became increasingly difficult, between the rain and numbed fingers, to catch the quaffle. I was even knocked off my broom today! Utterly embarrassing to be sure!

Only after a nice warm cup of coffee (or two!) have I regained any feeling in my fingers at all. As a personal note to myself, I really must stop insisting stopping by the Muggle end of Portree for coffee after practice! Coming in with mud in my hair and crusted on my cheek is rather hard to explain!

In any case, there has been a thought plaguing my mind. While I have, truly, come to love Portree, there’s a nagging in my heart brought about by my distance from my family. I can’t deny that it is rather easy living so close to my team, but after a lengthy discussion with a few of my teammates, I’ve started to wonder about relocating again. Very few of us reside here anyways.

It’s something, no doubt, to look into.

RP Sample:
The weight of eyes pressing against her was one that not even Alicia could ignore. Her eyes slid, curiously, to her side only to be greeted with a few quizzical looks, while others looked away. A smile tugged at her lips and she looked straight on once again, amused. The mud caked on the side of her cheek itched, sure, but more importantly it was hiding what was likely to be a bruise later in the night.

She took a step forward as the line moved closer to the counter, her shoes making no noise against the tile. She hadn’t even bothered to fully change out of her quidditch uniform. The padding and braces, of course, were in her bag, along with her robes, but the purple and gold sweater with their black pants made her no less conspicuous. Nor did the messy ponytail caked with mud and decorated with errant rain-curled strands. None of this, however, was all that odd to Alicia.

“May-- may I help you, miss?” The woman at the counter asked, her brown eyes widening as Alicia stepped up to the counter.

“Please, may I have a café mocha?” Alicia asked, shuffling around the bag on her shoulder (which held the more questionable robes and other equipment). She extracted the small pouch, rooting through the gnuts and sickles to extract a few pounds to hand to the girl at the counter. Even with the money in her hand, she couldn’t help but stare strangely at Alicia. That, however, didn’t bother her at all. Instead, with a smile, she offered a bright thank you.
